As the new year approaches, I've been meditating on what I am expecting to achieve, accomplish and act upon in the coming year. There is still much work for the saints of God to do as we continue to live the purpose for which we have been called.
A lot happened in my life in 2013. Actually, a lot has happened over the past 3 years, all to the glory of God. Now, I am looking forward to, in great expectation, of what He has planned for this next year. I feel some type of way, one which I cannot explain. It is a good way and I feel like I am about to burst open with joy. I am exceedingly glad and my heart is abundantly full, right now. It's really hard to put it in words that one would understand. But I know that whenever I get this feeling, God is shifting me in some way.
Last year, I decided to choose mantras and a theme for which I would meditate and live for 2013. You can read more about that here or here.
This year, I continue on the path of those three: #Responsibility, #Obedience, and #Inspiration.
In addition to those, for year 2014, I will add: #Purpose, #Equipped, #Empowered and #Passionate
I want to continue living my life for God, doing what He wants me to do, go where He wants me to go, saying what He wants me to say, and saying it to whomever He wants me to say it to. So, with that in mind, here is why I chose these 4 words for my mantra:
Purpose
Purpose is defined as the "reason that something is done or was created". Each and every one of us was created by our creator for a specific purpose. Yes, even you. God never does anything, just to be doing it. He always has a reason for doing what He does. And I want to do what He has purposed for me to do, without fail, for His glory. I always, always want to live my life with purpose, for purpose and on purpose.
{Roman 8:28 KJV} And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Equipped
I want to be equipped with every resource that is required to fulfill my calling and walk into my destiny. I don't know what all that entails, but I trust God to supply me and equip me with it all, because He knows.
{II Timothy 3: 16-17 NIV} 16) All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness 17) so that the servant of God maybe thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Empowered
Empower means 'to give the authority to do something'. That's it in a nutshell. I want to continue to be empowered by God to do whatever He has planned for me to do. No matter what because I can't do it without His blessing. And I want to use this empowerment to empower and encourage others as I continue my journey of responsibility, obedience and inspiration.
{Ephesians 3: 16-19 NLT} 16) I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources, He will empower you with inner strength through His spirit. 17) Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down into God's love and keep you strong. 18) And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high and how deep His love is. 19) May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Passionate
I know that it takes passion to
stick with something for a long period of time. And I am the type of person
that if I’m not really feeling it, I won’t stay with it for long. That’s why I love
talking to others about the goodness of God. I love inspiring, motivating, and
encouraging others. I love listening to them as they begin to awaken to what
God has called them to do or what He is preparing for them. I have a really
passion for doing this type of work and I want to remain passionate about it. I
pray every day that God will bring me in contact with whoever needs an
encouraging word from Him on that day.
So, there it is; my reasoning for the mantra words that I will live in the next year.
This year will continue to be "My Year of Living the Father's Blessing".
In addition to live my calling, there are some other things that I am looking forward to doing in the coming year:
1) Meeting the man who is purposed for me and loving him to the max.
2) Attending my 30th high school class reunion.
3) Visiting Atlanta to see all of my family, whom I have not seen since August.
4) New Year's Eve in Times Square, NYC
5) Relocating to the next place that God sends me.
6) New ideas, concepts and insights
7) Elevating Soulful Sandstone to a higher level.
8) Being at my healthy weight.
What are you looking forward to in the new year?
