Enemy as a Footstool

Photo compliments of Photobucket.com
My dear friends, I feel the need to write this, because some of you are going through it right now. I am here to tell you, DO NOT be discouraged by the tricks of the enemy.

Now when I say enemy I am not just referring to someone whom you do not like or who does not like you. Instead, I am speaking of anything that opposes you, to hinder you from fulfilling your purpose; you know those things such as challenges, obstacles, toxic people, etc. Your enemy can take on many forms so you need to be able to recognize all of them.

I love the passage in Exodus 14, that tells of how God allowed Pharoah and his army to pursue and come against the children of Israel. But He did it so that He would get the glory and that the enemy (Egyptians) will know that He is God.

God allowed the enemy to come against the Israelites, but He rescued them from the enemy. He will allow your enemy to come against you, to get you to move and so that He can show up and get the glory. And that's not a bad thing because He said that He will not put more on you than what you are able to handle. The Bible also says that your enemy will be present to see your blessing:

Thou prepareth a table before me in the PRESENCE of mine enemies (Psalm 23:5)

So you see, even your enemy has a purpose. And that is to bring out the God in you to overcome it and give Him the glory. Your enemy will catapult you to the next level. They will push you past your pain and force you to get out of your own way; many times just because you want to prove them wrong.

And as heaven is God's throne, so the earth is His FOOTSTOOL (Psalms 110:1; Isaiah 66:1; Matthew 5:35).

You know the story. After God had created the earth, He used the earth and everything and everybody in it, to carry out His purposes.

Footstool Defined
A footstool is a piece of furniture, the purpose of which is to support a person's feet. There are two main types of footstools, which can be categorized into two categories, COMFORT and FUNCTION. In other words, they are for your rest or for use for another purpose, such as to elevate you higher than your current state.

Now you can use that footstool to either sit down on, which will make you lower than your current state, or you can stand up on it, and elevate yourself to a higher state than you were before. If you have one nearby, try it. Sit down or stand up on it and see which state you would prefer to be in when the enemy is attacking you. If you begin to see that enemy as a footstool, you can either allow it to diminish your capacity or you can allow it to elevate you. I know which usage that I would get out it. What about you?

When the enemy comes against you, ask God what is the purpose of that enemy and how can you overcome it. The answer is already in you. When the enemy rises up against you, know that Jehovah Nissi shall lift up a standard against it. So instead of being discouraged by the enemy, use it as a footstool and trust that God already has a purpose and plan for that enemy that will benefit you. You will always come out victorious.

In Jeremiah 29:11, it says that He knows the plans that He has for you; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Have you had any attacks from the enemy lately? If so, how did you overcome it and use it as a footstool?
