But when that moment of despair is over, I realize that no matter what happens in my life, there is always a brighter day ahead. I think to myself that things couldnt possibly get any worse than they are right now. There has to be a way out of this. What am I doing wrong? Why me? And on and on and on I go.
Until I realize that what is happening is bigger than me, myself and I. That whenever something does not go the way that I planned, then there must be a lesson somewhere for me to learn from it. So, I look at those moments as lessons. We're all continuous students in this life; lifetime students, because we're constantly learning something each and every day.
And when I change my attitude about those moments, I begin to see things differently. Where I thought there was a period, I put a comma and attach "But God" after that comma, because the sentence and definitely the story is not over. The word 'but' means on the contrary. It means the exact opposite of. So, whatever is happening before I attach the 'but God', means that it is all brought to nothing because God has the power to change whatever came before that.
Let me give you some examples of what I mean by that:
"I can't find a job so that I have money to pay bills and by food, but God is my Jehovah Jireh who sustains me and provides for me. I've never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."
"My car is acting up and I have no means to get it fixed, but God is is my burden bearer, so I turn this matter over to Him and He will make sure that all is well with it."
"I'm lonely and have no one to talk to, but God hears me when I call. He listens to my heart and He responds in His gentle whisper."
"My spouse/significant other is not treating me with love and respect, but God cherishes me and He loves me more than I cold ever imagine. He will not allow me to continuously be mistreated by anyone because He said that I deserve the best."
In each of those examples, "but God" is the saving grace; our saving grace. In each of those examples, whatever was happening before we added the 'but God', (no money, loneliness, mistreated) were zeroed out because what came after the 'but God' has the power to overcome whatever was before it.
We just have to remember that although it seems as if things are working against us, God is always for us. So the next time you have a situation and you dont know what to do, let me make it a little easier for you. Just utter the words, "But God" and know that those two powerful words can change any situation you are ever faced with.
What situation(s) are you facing right now? But God..............................!
