Landing in the Desert

Yesterday, after what seemed like forever, I finally arrived in Tucson. The day started off great. My Mom and Sister went to the airport and walked to the security line with me. Before that, I went by my son's place and gave him one of those big ole motherly hugs.

Boarding the plane was on time. However, there were torrential downpours which delayed our departure for about an hour and a half. Finally, we were cleared for takeoff and the pilot said that he would take shortcuts so that we wouldn't be set back too bad. Well, we arrived just in Chicago just in time for my connecting flight to Tucson. I would have had that 1.5 hour downtime between flights but instead I had to run from one concourse to the other to catch my flight. They were already boarding when I arrived. I prayed that my checked luggage would also make the same flight because I did not want to wait around at the airport in Tucson for it to arrive.

Thank God that my luggage arrived with me. From the airport I took a taxi to my new apartment. The taxi ride was almost $50....WTH! Yes, that blew my mind too and almost put a damper in my excitement. But I prevailed. When I arrived at the apartment complex, the manager was waiting my arrival and even carried my 2 (50 lb) suitcases to my apartment.

After I settled in, I wanted to get something to eat since I was starving and had not eaten anything since 8:00 a.m. Atlanta time. It was now about 5:00 PST (West) here which was about 8:00 pm EST (East), so I was mad hungry. I would have had a chance to eat during the wait time in Chicago but umm, yeah, that didnt happen. So, I was on a mission to find food. I decided to trek it on down to the Walmart plaza and to see how long it would take me to get there. The distance is about 0.5 mile and it took me 9 minutes to walk at my normal pace. Not bad at all.

I decided on the Chinese food and had some left to bring home. Then I visited the Walmart, Family Dollar and others in the plaza. There is even a Quiktrip here. Now, I love me some QT. Yes, I do.

Today, I took a stroll to see how long it would take me to walk to my workplace, which is about 0.5 miles from my apartment in the opposite direction from the Walmart plaza. That also took about 10 minutes, strolling at my normal pace which is very casual. I can reach either location in about 10 minutes or less. I love it.

I spoke to my family back home and let them know that I had settled in. I am going to miss them a great deal. I thought about them a lot as I was flying over the great plains and how much my family means to me. I truly love them and I know that they love me. Now, I understand how Abraham must have felt when God told him to leave his family behind and go the place where He instructed him to go. Abraham obeyed, although Lot decided that he was going to go with him.

Obedience is better than sacrifice and I know that what God has in planned for me is better than anything I could have ever imagined. Heck, I never imagined picking up, leaving my family and landing in Tucson, AZ, all in less than 2 months, but here I am. So, yes, obedience is sacrifice and I know that my family is only a phone call and a plane ride away.

Now that I am here! I said, Now that I am here, let the journey begin and the glory of God continue shine upon my life so that men may see my good work and glorify my Father in Heaven.

I AM Living the Father's Blessing!
