Defining You

We must realizing that our purpose and our passion is about so much more than making money. It is about having that sense of peace in our lives knowing that we we were created for a very specific assignment. It is also knowing that we can have our hearts desire. I don’t know about you, but once I am given an assignment and the instructions to accomplish that assignment, I feel a lot better about achieving that goal. And that gives me peace of mind.

But before we can carry out the assignment, we must start at the beginning. Go back to Step 1: Who Am I: Defining Me. Your purpose and passion are tied into who you are. So, how would you define you? To define means to “state the precise meaning of”. What is the meaning of you? This gives a new meaning to the phrase, "What do YOU mean?" (Emphasis on YOU).

Please note that I didn’t say “How would you describe you?” To describe something means to “present in detail the characteristics by which an object or action can be recognized, or an event or process visualized”. A description of you can be that you are a woman, a mother, a wife, a teacher, etc. Those are all things that are visible on the outside and recognized by others. But a definition of you is more of what you are made of, those things on the inside that only you and God really know. It is the core of who you really are and the core is deeper than what's on the surface.

So, go back to the beginning by defining who you are. Meditate on that for a moment. You will be surprised to learn that it is not something easily identified and easy to pinpoint.
