Writing the Vision

Habakkuk 2 (King James Version)

2: And the LORD answered me, and said, “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”

3: For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Now that you have a vision for your life, the one that you imagined, and not the one that you currently see, we can go to the next step of WRITING the visual. It’s not enough to just have a mental image of what you want for your life, but you need to have something in writing so that you can see it.

You cant build what you cannot see.

That is why successful people are always writing and taking notes. They usually carry some sort of note pad, or in the age of technology, some sort of IT device, so that they can note when they get sudden revelations, thoughts or ideas. You are the architect for this vision and

we all know that an architect builds from a blueprint. Writing the vision is YOUR BLUEPRINT for your life.

Writing helps to solidify it in your mind because our minds are so far out there with the everyday happenings of life. Writing it down makes it more real and attainable. It gives you something tangible to see and to focus on everyday. It serves notice to Heaven, that you are serious about what you desire for your life and are willing to work to make those things manifest. So, although you see it in your mind, you should also see it on paper.

Besides, when you write it down, you will find that God will begin to show you more and more; bigger and better things than you first thought. That is what happened to me. God revealed my purpose to me (I shared in another post) and as I was writing the vision for it, He began to show me more and more than I would have thought of on my own. My natural self certainly didn’t see all of that. But when I tuned in to God, my spiritual self saw that vision become ‘larger-than life’ which now includes a television and radio broadcast for Soulful Sandstone. Wasn’t sure if I should share that, but as I’m writing this, God just instructed me to share it in this message because people need to know that nothing is impossible with Him and to those who believe. I have my vision board hanging in my home office area, place strategically so that I can see it often. It is a constant reminder of what God is doing in my life.

So, what is that you see? Get in a quiet place, so that you see things clearly without outside distractions.  Create a vision board of what you see of your vision by using pictures from magazines or books; or pictures that you take with your own camera.

Is it a business, a ministry, a husband/wife, children, music or acting career, becoming a successful author, a painter, a designer of some sort? What is it that you really want to for your life? Remember to not limit yourself with what you see. God is showing you those things for a reason. Write down everything that He is showing to you.

If it is an international business venture, write that down, even though you may be working a minimum wage job right now. Go into the details of what you see for that vision; not the plan, but the details of the business.

If it to use your artistic gift (music, acting, painting, creative design, etc), write that out in detail. If it is ministry, write down the vision for your ministry. What will be your focused area for these gifts?

For those of you who are single, do you have a vision for a loving spouse who has a vision for their life? Do you desire the fairytale wedding? Do you have a desire for children? Write it all down.

For each vision, go into the details of the Who, What, Where, and especially the Why. Why do you want this vision to come to pass? The WHY is just as important, if not more important than the WHAT.

Do not focus on the When or the How it will happen, because those are up to God. He does Not need our help in this area. In time, He will reveal those steps to us, though not all at once. If He gave all of the information and provided everything to us now, we would have no need for Him and He doesn’t want that. We still need to depend on Him or we would make a complete mess of what He gives to us.

We are NOT writing the step by step plan just yet. No, we are in the initial phase of drawing it out. What you need to write, is what you imagined, that final blueprint that you saw for yourself. And be completely open and honest with what you want for your life.

God is limitless and there is no limit to what we can have.

Don’t be bothered with thinking that this is too much. No, No, No. Be as exuberant and ‘larger than life’ as you want. Remember that the Bible tells us that He can do MORE than we can ask or think. So, if you can think it, then know that it is still less than what He can give to you.

He is the EXTRAordinary, the SUPERnatural to the things that you envision. The only thing that He needs for you to do right now is to SEEK Him for the vision, IMAGINE the vision as He is revealing it to you, WRITE the vision and have FAITH that He can bring it pass.

After you have sought God and have written your vision, take a good look at it. What do you see? You should see the things that you are passionate about and the purpose that God has ordained just for you.

Please know that whatever your vision is, it is one given to you by God and will be used for His purpose. That is why all of us have different visions and different desires for our lives.

Do you care to share some of your vision with the rest of us?
