30-Day Gratitude Journal- Day 1

Today is the beginning of a new month. After the success of No TV for the month of May, I've decided to challenge myself again. So, for the month of June, each day, I will write about at least 5 things that I am grateful for.

"But that's not a challenge", you say. You're right because there are so many things that I have, we all have, to be grateful for.

The challenge is that I cannot list those things that are obvious, such as waking up each day, having a roof over my head, the safety and well-being of my family and friends, a career, money to pay the bills, food to eat. You get my point. Some things are a given and those are the first things that people tend to rattle off when asked what they are grateful for.

And trust me, I am very thankful for all of those things. But I want to go beyond those things and be able to express gratitude for those things that are not so obvious. The little things or answered prayers or wishes, that are often taken for granted. To be reminded that even those things require gratefulness.

So on this day, June 1st, I am grateful/thankful for:

1. God waking me up at 2:30 this morning to give me more insight on some things that He has me working on. Some of the ideas for the post 'What I Know for Sure" was written during this time. For whatever reason, He always wakes me in the middle of the night to talk to me. But I do appreciate that He does, and even more thankful that I listen.

2. My grandbaby walking through the house calling her 'Na Na'. She is teething and today, she didn't want anyone else to hold her, except me. That just tugs at my heart. The joys of being a Grandma.

3. That no one called my phone today with negative talk about anything. I have changed up my whole 'vibration' and I am shunning the negative. It's working.

4. Thankful that when my son and I had this in-depth conversation about sports, I actually knew what he was talking about. I can hold conversations with the best of them when it comes to sports. He and I were talking about the players and the games in the NBA championship series, since last night was game #1.

5. That I have finally grasped the whole concept of how to ASK, BELIEVE and RECEIVE. Since the revelation of this, I am seeing manifestation a lot sooner, even of those things that I just desire or think of in passing. For example, I wanted to take a stroll in the neighborhood. I asked my son to walk with me so that he can show me where one of his friends live, so that I could chat with his mother since I hadn't seen her in a while and I didn't know where they lived. Well, my son didn't feel like walking because he said it was too hot. Ok, no big deal. So, I decided to go walking anyway and as soon as I turned the corner, I saw the young man's brother driving by. He recognized me and stopped to chat with me. Wish granted. Just like that. Even the simple requests are manifesting themselves.

Now it's on you. Come on and do this 30-day challenge with me. What are at least 5 things that you are grateful for, besides those obvious things listed above? You'll be surprised at what you come up with and  things that you probably haven't even thought about or just took for granted.
